New Video Tutorial Released: How to Make a Book with Wordclay’s Publishing Wizard

Wordclay has released their latest video to provide a live preview of the publishing wizard working its magic to make a book. The three-minute video, How it Works: Wordclay Self-Publishing Walkthrough, can be viewed on YouTube among other video sites, such as Google Videos, Blip and Revver.

I’d describe the video as the How it Works page on Wordclay.com coming to life. It doesn’t give tons of detail about the intricacies of the wizard, but instead provides a basic overview if you’re curious about how to maneuver through the wizard.

So, who’s behind the Wordclay videos? They’re put together by a talented team, including our director Scott Schrimer, a movie buff to the core and self-proclaimed lover of all genres of movies (but his personal movie projects would reveal his passion for horror films. Check them out on YouTube … if you dare!).

Also in this crew is our very own blog contributor, Jenn Handy, who’s a master production assistant with an eye for detail. Put these two creative minds together, and our videos are born.

Next week, Scott will be posting as a guest blogger, so be sure to keep your eyes open and help make him feel welcome.

Weekly Writing Prompt

The Domino Effect. Try thinking about a minor detail in your life that could have huge implications for a complete stranger. For example, perhaps you lose a dollar, which a homeless person uses to buy a lottery ticket, which wins them millions of dollars. Even the smallest occurrence could have global repercussions. Starting from a detail you take for granted, write a piece that captures the chain reaction that affects everything.

Weekly Writing Tip

Don’t write off anthologies. Pick up this year’s Best American series, or perhaps The O. Henry Prize Stories 2008. The diversity of styles and tones will definitely get you excited about writing, and just might plant the seed of a new book in your head.

No such thing as a stupid question. As a writer, you’re not only observant, but curious as well. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, even ones that may sound a little obvious. You’ll need to understand how people react to all types of questions anyway, if you’re going to write compelling dialogue and interesting characters.
